Hello old friend

Given the fact it's been a little over a year since my first post (actually, I just referenced my own blog and see that my first official post was February 10th, 2009. No wonder I've been pining to do some 'bloggin). I feel like I have a lot to say but it's too big of a project to say it all now. I'll just start with a simple entry and move on from here.

It's taken several months to realize the impact that the trip to Peru has had on me but it has been profound. I can't seem to put it into any sort of concise context, so I don't think I'll try at the moment.

My God, all this writing stuff was much easier when I was on the road, sitting in cafes, drinking coffee for hours on end. I wonder why?

I've been turned on to this awesome group of musicians from Congo called "Staff Benda Bilili". According to the wikipedia entry:

"The core of the band consists of four senior singers/guitarist, who are all disabled (they suffered from poliomyelitis when they were young) and move around in spectacularly customized tricycles. They are backed by a younger rhythm section consisting of ex-sheges, abandoned street kids who were taken under the protection of the older members of the band. The soloist is an 18 year-old boy who plays astounding electric guitar-like solos on a one-stringed lute he designed and built himself out of a tin can."

Since the last update, I've started playing with a band called The Congress which has done some amazing things in a very, very short amount of time. Actually, to motivate myself to post again in a reasonable and respectful amount of time, I will use The Congress as my motivation to have another subject to post about.

That's about it for now. I'll leave with another picture I took in the Colorado mountains -- I've had this infatuation with signs as of late...
